Social Bookmarking Demon Vs Social Bot - SEO Tools Face Off
So on the heels of what threatens to be one of Google’s most major updates and scariest, that’s if you’re an affiliate or a hard core Internet marketer, I ran across a thread on the Warrior Forum where someone was asking which is better Social Bookmarking Demon or Social Bot.
Background Information
For those of you who don’t know what these are let me give you a quick primer. If you want to get your money sites or product sites or whatever you wanna call’em ranked you gotta have that organic SEO magic workin in ur corner. What does this mean?
Well how about I give you the short version. Before Google’s Panda update and their most recent update getting your website or landing page to appear at the top of the search engine results for whatever keyword you’re trying to rank is a matter of having three things-I’m assuming you already have ur keyword research down pat…
- Sound website architecture – Meaning that you have a site map, that your URL’s have keywords in them (preferably at the front), that your whole site isn’t made entirely in flash, that you give your files (like pictures on your site and blog posts) keyword/seo friendly names. i.e. no naming your pics abc123.jpg, instead name ur pics keyword-smeeword.jpg.
- On page optimization – This refers to your keyword density (the ratio of keywords to total words on your website/pages) is balanced (usually a density of between 1% to 3% is acceptable), that you link to your own pages internally, use the proper meta and alt tags-yea, yea…I know everybody says they’re not important anymore..hogwash. Don’t believe the hype they still matter because they impact how your search engine results look to searchers. Another thing that impacts your on page optimization is what type of sites you link to that are not hosted on your own servers, as does the age of your domain impact your onsite optimization.
- Off page or offsite optimization – This is the one that we, Internet marketers, often stress about the most. Quite simply off site optimization is about the number and quality of sites or pages that link back to your site. In Internet marketing parlance we refer to these links simply as backlinks. In my opinion, historically, if you were to weigh the importance of backlinks compared to everything else backlinks would represent 60% to 70% of your SEO efforts and onpage optimization and website architecture would split the rest.
Again, there have been some major updates that impact the way that Google ranks websites, but that’s not my focus. So we’ll leave that for another time and place.
For now let’s focus on backlinks…Back in the day…When SEO was just getting kicked off spammy marketers figured out that the more links they had pointing to their sites the higher they ranked, right? So what Google and other search engines did was made a major overhaul of the equation or rather algorithm that they used to rank websites. What this did is said that not only do you need lots of links from other ppl’s sites pointing back to urs but you also need those links to have some seasoning or authority-meaning they need to have lots of reputable sites linking back to them.
SEO Automation Software – The Overall Concept
So what do the smart marketers do? There response was to create SEO automation software (enter software such as Brute Force SEO and SEO Nuke) that not only helps you get backlinks, but that helps you get backlinks to your backlinks. Peep that last statement and think for a minute…Even though this is a fairly old concept, you still don’t here many quote unquote online gurus’ talking about it, right? Right, Benin!
Actual Review of Social Bookmarking Demon vs Social Bot
So that’s what software such as Social Bookmarking Demon and Social Bot do-except they focus more on getting links to your backlinks by mass social bookmarking them. I’ve had the privilege of using both for SEO campaigns and here are my thoughts. Sorry in advance for the jargon here…If you dont know something though keep it real and ask, alright?
I found Social Bot way too clunky and hard to get around. On the other hand love Social Bookmarking Demon, particularly love the fact that you can:
- Easily segment your bookmarking sites based on captcha codes
- Use proxies (hide your ip address, so that you dont get banned from the social bookmarking sites for mass bookmarking)
- Ease of use
- Add your own ping servers to alert the search engines of your new links, because if you don’t do this you have to rely on the search engines to manually crawl the new backlinks-on the search engine’s schedule…that could take months!
- Use captcha breakers
Again I can’t stress enough the overall ease of use of Social Bookmarking Demon, I barely had to read the instructions.
Of course, there is the price issue to contend with. At $27 Social Bot is super cheap compared to BMD’s $147 price tag. But if you’re like me and you absolutely know that you won’t use something that’s difficult to use, then just consider the $147 a worthy investment.
Note to Incansoft fans, this is by no means a knock against the makers of Social Bot-Incansoft. I happen to like the fact that Incansoft makes affordable but sound Internet marketing software. I just wasn’t thrilled with Social Bot and after having it sit on my shelf for several weeks (or was it months..I dont know) I said enuff is enuff and picked up Social Bookmarking Demon.
There you have it-as unbiased a review as you will get for any Internet marketing tool!
